Fred Davis Candle in the Wind...Floating baits controversy The candle in the wind revisitedBy Fred Davis Last year much was written in the general angling press about big weights being caught on floating baits, Sean Brennan’s record Busting 449lb which broke the individual match record at Newlands Hall fishery in Chelmsford was also part of a 4,027lb club record set for the venue of which I am happy to say I fished and was proud to be part of that great day. Sean is an extremely skilful angler and as I write he has just won 3 matches on the trot with big weights on three different methods, two wins were using floating baits ! HERE
On the road with Hillbilly March 2008... By the end of last month (January) I had managed to take my Kamasan points total to 16 and was hopeful of gleaning a few more during Febuary in order to qualify again for their British Open Final which is to be held at Woodlands Thirsk in June. However during Febuary attendances at Cudmore started to rocket with lots of class teams putting in their practice for the forthcoming Angling Times VDE semi final at the venue making a top four finish even harder than usual to achieve. As I have not received a topic for this months piece I will get straight on with the report of my fortunes during the month which was once again largely spent at Cudmore but included a very pleasant “week” at Stafford Moor contesting the TF Silvers FestivaHERE
Summer Beach Fishing North Beach Tenby by Ben Edwards TFC's only Sea Angling reporter....Its August and autumn is drawing in. Holiday makers are still swarming the beaches and temperatures are still high. Rock marks are deemed unfishable as the huge spring tides dictate that it would be very difficult to hold bottom in the strong current. But don\'t despair! There is another option. We join Ben Edwards and Rob Collins as they attempt to catch some fish amongst the crowds and in the bright light at North Beach, Tenby. Luckily its cloudy and this means there aren\'t too many people on the beach, anyway, Rob and Ben move to the left hand side of the beach which is far quieter and out of the way.. HERE
